in the vast open skies
of one winter night
we went out to play a game
that will put ourselves to shame
hide and seek, we did
behind the trees we hid
on lower grounds we creep
on tip toes you lead
we giggled our way to the bend
snuck out across the fence
in hopes that no one would see
the happiness between you and me
we lay on the fresh cut grass
mesmerized at how beautiful the moon was
watched the stars slowly fade away
we closed our eyes and prayed
as the sun starts to peep
we knew that memory is all we could keep
